Since Czechia is part of the EU, the EU roaming regulations also apply here. So if you come from another EU country, for the first months you can keep using your current SIM card.

However, there are reasons for getting a Czech number:

  • You can call Czech numbers at cheaper rates
  • People with Czech contracts can call you easier / at better rates
  • Many online forms (e.g. for authorities' and doctor's appointments) only allow entering a Czech number (starting with +420)
