Things to know[edit]

What paperwork do I need to rent a place?[edit]

Unlike for instance in Germany, renting much less regulated in Czechia. So landlords will be fine with a lot less paperwork. It might be though helpful to have some proof of income, e.g. your work contract.

Kitchen or kitchenette[edit]

Regarding room numbers, every ad will either have added

  • +kk (kuchyňský kout = kitchenette)
  • +1 (extra room for the kitchen)

So for instance, an apartment "2+kk" will have only 2 rooms, and the kitchen will be included into one of its rooms. Instead "2+1" will have 2 rooms and a separate kitchen

  • 🇨🇿🇬🇧🇷🇺 – main Czech portal for renting and buying property (also in EN & RU languages)
    • very suitable because the ads are without real estate agent commissions
  • 🇨🇿🇬🇧🇷🇺 – Czech-wide portal, also available in English and Russian
  • Real estate 🇬🇧 – neat search engine for flats for rent with map navigation
  • 🇨🇿 – website only in Czech (but that way one can probably avoid expat competition)
  • Facebook marketplace – link leads to Prague but for other cities, simply change the location in the menu on the left

Short term (2 weeks - 6 months)[edit]

  • Flatio
  • Airbnb – referral link giving you up to 34€ on your first booking

Co-living / flatshare[edit]

  • – Simple long-term accommodation, e.g. 8700 CZK in a one-room apt.
